Our founder and CEO

Our founder and CEO, Jonathan Todd, M.D. has produced and managed major theatrical events, iconic celebrities including Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac for over 20 years, has a Grammy Nomination, and has performed magic professionally and vocationally since bitten by the magic-bug at the ripe age of seven. He has been described in major magic sites and periodicals as “a magician’s magician,” is a member of The Academy of Magical Arts and Sciences (The Magic Castle), The International Brotherhood of Magicians, and The Society of American Magicians. He is equally at home in the areas of corporate management, marketing, licensing, and branding.

The Next Generation of Magicians!

The mission of the Junior Society at The Magic Castle is to provide mentoring for gifted and dedicated young magicians (ages 13-20) in order to develop their magical interests and prowess through exposure to leading professionals in the field.

To support and honor the junior program, The Magical Mystery Show! donates a portion of ticket sales to The Magic Castle.

The Magic Castle also has the Dai Vernon foundation, library needs, programs to assist magicians, and programs to assist their junior membership.

Aloha Shriners Children’s Hospital!

Your ticket purchase helps children’s medical needs through donations to Shrine Hospitals for Children and the Aloha Shriners in Hawaii. The funds donated to The Maui Shrine Club help provide children around the Pacific Rim with much-needed, often specialized medical care.

What exactly is The Magical Mystery Show?

The Magical Mystery Show is family-friendly and perfect for date night, featuring comedy and magic from performers you may have seen on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, America’s Got Talent, international television, and global award stages.

The show presents some of the world’s best magical entertainers in an elegant, intimate setting, designed to truly stun and entertain. You are only a few feet away as impossible moments and miracles happen right before your eyes.

The experience takes place in our unique Hawaiian-Victorian, antique-filled theatre. Your journey begins in the Museum of Curiosities and Oddities, setting the tone for a step back in time. Inspired by history, the show references 1881, when Hawaii’s last king, King David Kalākaua, witnessed magic in a London home. We share the history, lore, and fun throughout this one-of-a-kind experience.

Each show is limited to fewer than 60 guests to preserve the intimacy, allowing for close-up magic, laughter, and the charm of a bygone era. Guests actively participate in the performance and experience astonishing feats of prestidigitation up close.

Guests leave with the lines between fantasy and reality completely blurred.

Is this a magic show or a theater show?

It’s the entire experience, not just a magic show or a traditional theater performance. The Magical Mystery Show combines world-class magic, comedy, immersive storytelling, a walk-through museum, and escape-room–style mystery elements, all inside a beautifully intimate theater.

Guests don’t simply sit and watch — they step into a world. From the Museum of Curiosities and Oddities to the live performance itself, the experience is designed to feel immersive, personal, and unforgettable, with magic happening just a few feet away.

How long is the Magical Mystery Show show?

The show runs approximately 90–100 minutes, including a short meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with the performers at the end.

Is there an intermission?

No, there is no intermission. The show is designed to flow continuously from start to finish so guests stay fully immersed in the experience.

Is every show the same or does it change?

While the show’s core structure remains the same, the audience interaction ensures that no two performances are identical. The unique reactions, volunteers, and improvised moments are what make each night’s experience one-of-a-kind.

Who are the performers?

The show features Shoot Ogawa, a world-renowned magician and former Magic Castle Close-Up Magician of the Year, along with other highly skilled professional magicians depending on the night. Special duo performances called the Sleight and Delight Tour are also scheduled on select days.

Is Shoot Ogawa performing at the Magical Mystery Show every night?

Shoot Ogawa’s solo show runs six days a week, from Wednesday to Monday. On Tuesdays, the show is replaced by a special duo performance called Sleight and Delight Tour, which features two magicians.

Is the show scripted or improvised?

The show has a clear structure and planned routines, but many moments are improvised. Audience interaction plays a big role, so the performers adapt their timing, humor, and presentation based on who is in the room.

Is it more visual or story-based?

It is very visual, making it easy to enjoy even without following every word. At the same time, there is light storytelling and emotional buildup that adds depth without being complicated or hard to follow.

Is it suitable for people who don’t speak much English?

Yes. The show is highly visual and expressive, making it easy to enjoy regardless of language. Even guests with limited English can fully experience the magic, audience reactions, and overall atmosphere of the performance.
